Local business AKW charity support to Str   Click here to go back

The charity based Droitwich Stroke Club are delighted to once again obtain the support of local business AKW ensuring the weekly club can continue to run throughout this economic uncertainty. Members, all of whom are stroke sufferers, meet each Friday for socialising and activities. The event also provides respite for family members who in-turn are often unpaid carers.

Based within Droitwich Spa, AKW are the leading suppliers of showering, kitchen and daily living products for the elderly and disabled. After seeing the benefits the club brings we certainly wanted to continue our support, Dominique Bray explained, particularly as it became apparent that sadly it was often the only opportunity for many to leave their homes.

Working with occupational therapists and health care professionals, AKW create products which are safe and allow routine tasks to become less challenging, allowing people to remain independently at home for as long as possible.

The club recently spent an unexpected afternoon on a river cruise after AKW held a charity auction and raised additional funds to support this rare outing. With the assistance of Avon River Cruises, who locally provide the only adapted riverboat with access ramps, members and helpers enjoyed a lunch trip down the Avon.

The Stroke Club are currently looking for volunteers to help and would welcome anyone who is able to spare a few hours of their time. If you are interested in helping or would like more information please contact the Chairman Mrs Chris Bowden 079222 70027.
